Getting information is always important. Logan County residents now have a central place, with an updated look to it, to go to get it.
Scott Burchett, the IT Director for Logan County Fiscal Court, said, “The address is the same: www.logancountyky.gov, but it’s better than before.” The new site replaces the one created during Covid that only included a link to the county’s YouTube channel.
“I desperately wanted us to have a page that represented us and that the citizens of Logan County could stay involved through,” explained Burchett. Many of the site additions include links to department Face Book pages that update automatically based on page activity.
Burchett also explained the automatic updates are a better way to alert citizens on department activity because social media posts are often missed. “You can go to the site and it’s right there, he said. Departments with these links include the sheriff’s department, the detention center, the county clerk’s office, property valuation administrator, animal care and control, solid waste and the archives.
“I chose to share photos pf dogs for adoption at the animal shelter because their social media activity would have been too much, and getting the animals new homes was more important,” Burchett explained.
Other features on the site include a link for information on open bids and requests for proposals, employment opportunities, and open records requests. You may also submit information about concerns you have.
“I want everybody to be engaged and knowing, through the website,” Burchett said. “There is a calendar of events and a feature that allows you to receive notifications when content is added.” You can choose which notifications you receive, but you can also access important information relating to county business.
“Each month the Fiscal Court meets on the second and fourth Tuesday. The agenda and minutes for each meeting, along with a link to watch the meeting live or recorded, is also available,” said Burchett.
The look of the site can depend on the user. “If you create a log-in, you can customize what you see and how you see it,” explained Burchett, whose excitement for the new site was evident.
“I wanted to showcase our county,” Burchett said, “Logan County is amazingly beautiful with amazingly beautiful people.” He added, “Sign up for ‘Notify Me.’ Visit the page and visit often. Stay informed.”
