It has happened to all of us at some point. We have missed a Belt Loop or not buttoned all the Buttons. Thankfully when I have missed a Belt Loop or Button, nothing has fallen off or been exposed.

Buttons and Belt Loops generally are not thought about, they just exist. They simply sit and wait to fulfill their purpose. The world will not come to an end and life will go on, if by chance the Button is not buttoned or the Belt Loop is missed -- BUT the pants do not fit as well and the shirt does not come together as it should, when the Buttons are not fastened and the Belt is not slid into each loop.

I have wondered if I am a Button or Belt Loop? As a Christian I need to remember that I do have a job/function in this world. I have a purpose. I also know that if I am fully engaged in fulfilling my purpose -- I, just like every Christian, can make things function better. For Romans 12:4-6 states, "For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."

Each Christian is part of something far greater than themselves, it's called the Body of Christ. Each Christian also has a place of service and reason for being, within that body. Some Christian may be Belt Loops while others are Buttons. But your title is not that important. The important thing is to know that all of the parts are important, needed and make things fit or function better.

Are you a Button or Belt Buckle or something else -- it really does not matter, as long as you are engaged in the work and ministry of Christ for which we have been created.
