Terrell L. Noffsinger, age 103, of Auburn, Ky., passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019, at his home.

He was born in Muhlenberg County, Ky. on Jan. 3, 1916, to the late Walter Evans and Flossie (Jones) Noffsinger.

Terrell was a Baptist by faith. He served his country in World War II and the Korean War as a Major in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and received his Ph.D. at Purdue University. He was a professor at Purdue University and the University of Hawaii and served two years with the Peace Corps in Thailand. He retired as a Director of the National Weather Service.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Hansen Noffsinger; his daughter, Madeleine McGrath; his son-in-law, David McGrath; his granddaughter, Megan McGrath, and his sister, Izetta Sparks.

Terrell is survived by his wife of 32 years, Evelyn Joyce Noffsinger; two sons, Richard Noffsinger of Loveland, Colo. and John Noffsinger (Karen) of Sewanee, Tenn.; his daughter, Terry Ann Linn (Joseph) of Great Cacapon, W.V.; two step-sons, Paul Kenyon (Carol) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisc. and Douglas Kenyon (Amy) of Clark, Colo.; a step-daughter, Gayle Kenyon of Altus, Okla.; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Terrell L. Noffsinger will be conducted Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. in the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Pastor Prescott Khair and Ed Leto officiating. Visitation will begin Wednesday, April 17 from 5 p.m. until the service at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to either the Logan County Humane Society or Hosparus. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
