Larry “Sam” Thomas, age 85, of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019, on his farm while tending his cattle.

He was born in Logan County, Ky. on Dec. 10, 1933, to the late Herbert and Lena Catherine (Taylor) Thomas.

Sam attended Duncan Chapel Methodist Church, formerly worked for Ford Glass Plant and was a farmer.

He is preceded in death by a son, Ricky Thomas; two sisters, Elizabeth Thomas, and Dorothy Coleman, and three brothers, Alvin Thomas, Jerry Thomas, and Donald Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruby (Adcock) Thomas; two sons, Billy Thomas and David Thomas both of Russellville; three daughters, Cindy Thomas Parker (Ricky), Kim Thomas Shelton and Enola Hinton (Odell) all of Russellville; five brothers, Wendall Thomas, Murell Thomas, Gary Thomas and Shirley Thomas all of Russellville and Herbert Thomas of Auburn; three sisters, Helen Hansen of Wisconsin, Nancy Vick Cates of Russellville and Kathy Beasley of Auburn; 17 grandchildren, Michael Hinton, Cameron Labelle, Stephanie Hinton Thomas, Robbie Hinton, Jesse Thomas, Ashley Orr, Ricky Thomas, Jr., Kimberly Yates, Kenny Thomas, Crystal Thomas Perdue, Kyle Denny, Savannah Mohr, Whitney Hunter Parker, Kalee Shelton, Amber Thomas, Brooke Thomas and Wesley Scales; 20 great-grandchildren, Hannah Thomas, Mackenzie Jeffers, Kaiden Thomas, Abby Denny, Samantha Thomas, Wyatt Thomas, Adam Hinton, Tyler Hinton, Kayla Thomas, Savannah Hinton, Christian Hinton, Annie Hinton, Brennan Orr, Grady Orr, Kyron Orr, Rory Orr, Isiah Yates, Melissa Yates, Dillon Labelle and Kindred Labelle, and one great-great-grandchild, Addison Hinton.

Funeral services for Larry “Sam” Thomas will be conducted Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m. in the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Bro. Kenny Gregory and Bro. Clarence Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery. Visitation began at the funeral home Monday, March 11 from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 12 from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers are Kyle Denny, Michael Hinton, Wesley Scales, Tyler Hinton, Alex Meadows, and Chris White. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Adcock, Ricky Parker, Odell Hinton, J. B. McKinney, Mike Johnson, Billy Belcher, and Dale Boisseau.
