Katherine Guion Johnstone died Saturday, December 29, in Louisville following a brief illness. She was born November 12, 1924 in Logan County, KY. During World War II she worked at Fort Campbell earning tuition to the University of Kentucky where she graduated with honors. While at the University she met and married returning GI, Edward Johnstone. After their graduation they moved to Princeton, KY where they lived for 60 years. They moved to Louisville in 2010. Kay was creative, hardworking, and used her energy and talents to serve her church and community. During a teacher shortage she was recruited to the Caldwell County School System as a math and science teacher. She set a positive example for her students--especially to young women who thanked her for encouragement to pursue non-traditional careers. The Johnstones moved to Louisville in 2010.
