Russellville native Ta'Corian Darden plays against MTSU on Saturday at WKU. The Hilltoppers won 31-26.

Russellville native Ta'Corian Darden celebrated Senior day at Western Kentucky University on Saturday. Darden, who plays DB for the Hilltoppers, has put together an impressive career at WKU. The redshirt senior recorded five tackles on Saturday as the Hilltoppers beat Middle Tennessee State University, 31-26.

The game on Saturday was played in a steady, sometimes very heavy rain in front of a reported 7,589 fans. MTSU struck first with a 26-yard field goal to take an early 3-0 lead. The Tops answered back before the end of the quarter with a 21-yard chip-shot kick to tie it at 3-3.

The Blue Raiders made it 10-3 early in the second frame with a touchdown pass from 17 yards out. Western quarterback Ty Storey tied it at ten each on a 27-yard run and dive into the endzone. With 30 seconds left before the break, MTSU kicked another field goal in the rain to take a 13-10 lead into the half.

The Hilltoppers went up 17-13 early in the third when Senior Lucky Jackson took it in from 64 yards out. The rest of the quarter was quiet for both teams.

Going into the 4th quarter as the rain let up, WKU saw its thin lead go away when MTSU got a passing touchdown to make it 20-17. The Tops scored the next two touchdowns to lead 31-20 with only 3:28 left in the game. The Blue Raiders scored once more, but WKU held on to win 31-26.

Quarterback Ty Storey threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Lucky Jackson was the leading receiver with 110 yards and a score. Gaej Walker ran for 119 yards and a touchdown in the win. Walker went over 1000 yards on the season in this game.

Ta'Corian Darden now has 49 total tackles on the year. He has one interception in 2019. Darden recorded a season-high nine tackles against Louisville in September.

During his career on the hill, Darden has recorded 195 total tackles, six interceptions, and 14 tackles for a loss.

The Hilltoppers will play one more game this season. The Tops will play in a bowl game in December after finishing the regular-season (8-4) and (6-2) in Conference USA. The destination and opponent will be announced at a later date.
