The Russellville Panthers not only picked up the first win of the season on Friday night, but they did so against a team with only one loss in 2019 prior to the game at Rhea Stadium.

The Panthers fought back to beat Fulton County 34-31.

The Fulton County Pilots struck first with a 22-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. They took the 7-0 lead to the middle of the second when Russellville quarterback Lennon Ries found Josh Allen for a 41-yard touchdown. Dustin Brown added the point after to tie the game at 7-7.

Just before halftime, Fulton County found the end zone again to make it 14-7 going into the break.

Russellville fell deeper into the hole just four minutes into the 3rd quarter. The Pilots found the goal line for a third time making it 21-7. The Panthers answered back with a touchdown pass and kick by Brown. Fulton County added a field goal before the end of the quarter and it was 24-14 with Russellville trailing after three.

The 4th quarter belonged to the Panthers. Lennon Ries found Jackson Hampton for another score. The Panthers defense came up big with a pick 6 for Hampton soon after. The score was 27-24 Russellville with nine minutes to go.

With four minutes left in the game, Ries ran it in for an 8-yard rushing touchdown. With Brown's kick, the Panthers lead was 34-24.

On the next drive, the Pilots made it interesting with another score and extra point. The Russellville lead was cut to only three points, 34-31.

Russellville had the ball and executed important third-down conversions to eventually run out the clock and win their first game of the year.

Josh Allen threw one pass for an 81-yard touchdown. Lennon Ries threw two touchdown passes and ran for another.

Jovari Gamble had 134 rushing yards in the win. Jackson Hampton caught two passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Hampton added another touchdown on an interception.

Landon Bollenbecker had 14 total tackles for the Panthers defense. The stat sheet shows 77 total tackles for Russellville in the game.

The win takes the Panthers to (1-6) on the season with Caverna (1-5) coming to Rhea Stadium on the 18th.
