Russellville High School basketball standout Jacob Naylor recently signed to play basketball at Roane State.

For the NDL

Recently, Jacob Naylor, his family, many friends, past and present coaches, teachers, and administration gathered at the Russellville Twenty-first Century Center to share in the exciting event of his decision to sign with and play for the Roane State Raiders basketball team.

Kind words were shared by both Athletic Director, Kyle Yates, and Head basketball coach, Rex Booth. As a player, Jacob is a 3-Time All-District player, member of the 2017 Class 'A' State Tournament team, and as a senior was voted as an All 4th Region performer as well as a Courier Journal All State Honorable Mention player. There are only 52 players in the state on this team.

He is one of three players from the 4th Region to be named and is ranked 4th on our programs All-time scoring list with 1659 career points. Jacob holds a career average of 15.1 points per game; an average of 25.1 points per game as a senior ranking him 10th in the state; he made 3 - 3's per game which ranked him 13th in the state. His shooting was approximately 35% from 3 this season. What is impressive about these feats is how often he was doing it with 2-3 defenders running at him on a nightly basis. Jacob was also able to set our program's single-game-scoring record this season, when he scored 48 points against McLean County in December. He was in foul trouble in the 2nd quarter and fouled out with about 3 minutes left. His record was previously held by Roderick Holman whose 45 point mark was set in a game against Trigg Co in 1980.

Jacob was not just a scorer, because he averaged 3 steals and 5 rebounds per game. Off the court, Jacob is an outstanding student and ambassador for our school. He's ranked 1st in his class with a 4.56 GPA, and he will graduate with well over 30 dual credit college hours. Jacob also represents the senior class as their class President, is a long-time member of the prestigious Russellville Ambassadors, a member of the National Honor Society, and he routinely leads our FCA program in their weekly morning meetings. At the signing, Jacob was joined by his brother, Micah, and parents, Bro. Calvin and Tracy Naylor.
