Senior Night was celebrated at Logan County High School on Friday night as the Lady Cougars hosted the Lady Purples of Bowling Green. The celebration was a success as the Lady Cougars slugged past Bowling Green 14-5 to end the regular season at (22-6.)

Logan County entered the 13th District tournament as the #1 seed on Monday after the NDL publishing deadline. Look for the full tournament results in the Friday edition of the paper.

On Friday, Senior Jillian McLellan popped two home runs in the same inning to help her team win their 22nd game of the season.

The Lady Purples got on the board first, putting up one run in the top of the opening inning. The Lady Cougars answered back with two runs in the bottom half. Sydney Lee hit an RBI double to right field, scoring Brea Croslin. Lee scored after Kennedy Nichols hit a sacrifice fly to left.

Abby Hinton drew a base on balls to start the bottom of the 2nd inning. Seniors Jillian McLellan and Presley Harris hit back-to-back singles to load the bases. KJ Page drove in two runs to make it 4-1.

The Lady Purples closed the gap to 4-2 in the top of the fifth. Kennedy Nichols got that run back with a home run to left in the bottom of the fifth.

Bowling Green had a big inning in the sixth. After a pair of doubles and three singles, the Lady Purples tied the game at five each going into the bottom of the sixth.

Senior Jillian McLellan stepped to the plate to start the inning and drove the first pitch over the center field fence to break the tie. The Lady Cougars would add many more runs before Bowling Green left the field.

McLellan stood in the batter’s box for the second time in the inning with the score 10-5 and two runners on base. The Senior first baseman hit her second home run of the inning to make it 13-5. KJ Page drove in the 14th run of the game on a triple before the Lady Purples were finally able to record the third out of the sixth inning.

14-5 would be the final on Senior Night at Logan County.

The Lady Cougars were scheduled to play Todd County (9-16) to open up the 13th District tournament on Monday. The winner of that game will play in the district championship tonight at Logan County High School.
