The Fourth Region tournament started on Sunday at Western Kentucky University’s Diddle Arena. The Russellville Lady Panthers played the Bowling Green Lady Purples on opening day. Russellville also played Bowling Green at WKU for the 4th Region tournament last season. On Sunday, the Lady Purples won 61-29.

The Lady Panthers (19-12) played close to Bowling Green (26-6) early in the 1st period. Russellville led 5-3 after A’miyah Collier sank two free throws after the foul. Bowling Green got the lead back a few plays later and led 19-10 after the 1st.

The Lady Purples were 0-for-9 on 3-point attempts in the 1st half.

Russellville held Bowling Green to only nine points in the second period. At halftime, the score was 28-17 in favor of the Lady Purples. The Lady Panthers were 4-for-25 in field goal attempts in the first half. They shot 7-for-8 at the free throw line.

The Lady Purples outscored Russellville 13-4 in the 3rd quarter. The game started slipping away as Bowling Green started hitting more shots. It was 41-21 going into the 4th.

The final score was 61-29 after BG won the 4th quarter, 20-8.

Anastasia Dowlen led the Lady panthers with 12 points. Jordin Morris scored four in the game. Jaylah Kees, Macaria Hines, and Brinley Mason each had three points. A’miyah Collier led the team with 14 total rebounds.

The Lady Panthers end the season with 19 wins. With no seniors on the team this season, Russellville should bounce back even stronger in 2020-2021.
