Logan County's Shayla Johnson smashes a ball early in the game against Russellville on Tuesday. The Lady Cougars won the game 9-4.

The first middle school Clash of the Cats was held despite the threat of rain on Tuesday evening at Logan County High School. The Lady Cougars scored four in the third inning to secure the 9-4 win over the Lady Panthers.

Russellville put up two runs in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead. Logan County came back and matched those two runs and knotted the score after one inning of play. Sydni Blick tripled with one out in the second inning and would eventually score the third run of the game for Coach Sheena Bean Parker’s Lady Cougars.

Logan County scored four in the third and two more in the fourth to make it 9-2 going into the fifth.

The Lady Panthers fought hard and added two more runs in the top of the fifth. It would not be enough and the first ‘Clash’ of the season went to the Lady Cougars.

The JV game between the two teams followed. The Game ended in a tie as time expired.

Russellville will play in Bowling Green over the weekend. Logan County will host a tournament at home.
