The 13th District is comprised of four schools. Logan County is undefeated and holds the top spots for both the boys and girls. On Friday night, Todd County brought both teams to fight the Cougars and Lady Cougars on the court. The Rebels and Lady Rebels both came up short and returned to Elkton with losses.

The ladies tipped off first on Friday at Logan County High School. The Lady Cougars controlled the game pretty early on, taking a 22-8 lead into the second quarter. The girls of Logan County came to shoot against the Lady Rebels. Paige Vanzant sank two 3-pointers and put up nine points in the first frame. Blayke Bingham and Sarah Beth Hale also added shots from outside during the first period.

The Lady Rebels added 11 points before the half, but Logan County continued to pour it on. The lead was 38-19 going into the locker room.

In the 3rd, Abby Hinton fired a 3-pointer through and the Lady Cougars piled up 21 points. The game was firmly in control of Logan County throughout the last half. The final was 73-36.

Paige Vanzant finished with 18 points, leading all scorers. Addie White was extremely accurate at the line and collected 13. Sarah Beth Hale had 11 points in the game.

The boys played a little closer in the second game of Friday night action. Logan County held on for the win, 73-60.

The Cougars were up 18-10 after the first quarter. Todd County stayed within reach at the half, only down by 11. Rooster Woodard had nine in the first half. Third Bell and Tommy Krohn added 3-pointers to help Logan County to a 36-25 halftime lead.

Todd County fought back in the third and found themselves only seven points down going into the final period. The Cougars took advantage of multiple fouls and good free throw shooting in the 4th quarter to pull out the district win, 73-60.

Woodard put up 23 points in the win. Tommy Krohn had 16 and shot 7-of-8 from the line. Kelby Epley added 15 points on the evening.

The Cougars will be on the road this week with a game in Russell County tonight and another district contest on Friday at Franklin.

The Lady Cougars go to Clarksville Academy tonight and meet up with the Lady Cats on Friday.
