The Logan County Cougars traveled to Hopkinsville on Thursday and suffered the first loss of the season, 21-6.

On Thursday, Logan County traveled to the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville for some Thursday night football action. The Cougars and Tigers have played close and very physical games in recent years. Thursday night's game was very physical as well with Logan County suffering numerous injuries in a 21-6 loss.

The loss marked the first of the season for the Cougars (6-1.) Hopkinsville moves to 5-2.

The game looked to be in the control of Logan County early on. Nakeitha Jackson returned the opening kickoff for 21 yards to start the game. The Cougars would drive all the way down to the Hopkinsville six-yard line before losing the ball on a fumble. The opening drive consumed over five minutes of the clock.

The defense held the Tigers out the endzone for the remainder of the quarter. Logan County scored its lone touchdown as time expired in the 1st quarter on a pass from Tyler Ezell to Jarrett Sears. The two-point attempt was no good. It was 6-0 in favor of Logan after one.

The second quarter belonged to Hopkinsville. The Tigers scored twice and took the 14-6 lead into the locker room at the half.

Hopkinsville added another score in the third quarter. Logan County fought some key injuries and could not catch any breaks. Going into the fourth quarter, it was Hopkinsville up 21-6.

In the 4th quarter, Logan County put together a good drive and got all the way to the Hopkinsville 3-yard line. A holding penalty kept the Cougars out of the end zone. The final would be 21-6.

The Cougars had 203 yards of total offense while the Tigers recorded only 180 yards.

Ezell threw for 184 yards and one score. The Cougars also had three interceptions. Ezell was also the rushing leader with 22 yards on a night when neither team could establish a run game. Logan had 19 total yards rushing and Hopkinsville had only 32 yards.

Jaden Sells was the leader in receiving yards for the Cougars with 53. Aaron Hinton had 50 yards and Jarrett Sears ended with 48 yards and the touchdown.

The Cougars will get this week off to regroup and heal. They will host winless Hopkins County Central on October 18th.
