The Logan County Cougars hit the court this season and finished strong in the 13th District and 4th Region. The Lady Cougars posted an overall record of (16-17) and finished with a perfect (8-0) record in the 13th District. The Cougars finished (28-4) and also (8-0) in district play. Both teams won the 13th District championship and advanced to play two games at WKU’s Diddle Arena.

The Cougars started the season with two early losses. The opening loss was against Muhlenberg County at home. The final was 68-57. Muhlenberg went on to finish with a winning record of (20-12.) The second game of the season was also a loss for Logan County. They fell 67-63 to Bullitt East in Campbellsville. The Cougars would win the next four by a total margin of 100 points, (289-189.)

Just before Christmas on December 21st, Logan County played in the Twin Lakes Classic at Clinton County. The Cougars went (3-1) in the tournament with the only loss being a 71-61 game against Eastern. That would be the last game that Logan County would lose until the very last game of the season during the 4th Region tournament.

Logan put together a 24-game winning streak in between. They also won the Roy’s Bar-B-Que/1st Southern National Bank Classic in late December.

Jose Nazario led the Cougars in scoring this season with 444 points. Rooster Woodard had 386 points scored this season. Jay Hardison finished with 381 points, including 96 3-pointers. Dalton Thompson scored 321 for his Senior year. Dylan Basham and Nathaniel Vick finished strong with over 200 points each.

The Cougars shot well at the free throw line this season. Dalton Thompson shot over 70% on the year. Hardison, Basham, and Vick each finished in the 60% range.

Jose Nazario grabbed over 250 rebounds this season. Thompson and Woodard also finished strong with nearly 200 rebounds.

The Cougars beat Franklin-Simpson 55-48 to win the 13th District title. They defeated Cumberland County 79-58 at Western Kentucky University during the 4th Region tournament. Logan County fell 64-52 to Bowling Green during the second round of the tournament.

The Lady Cougars also won the district when they defeated Russellville 45-40 during the 13th District tournament. The rest of the season featured a mixed bag of wins and losses and a final record of (16-17.)

Logan County beat Ohio County 63-55 to start the 2019-2020 season. The next game was a 70-55 loss to the eventual 21st District champions Pleasure Ridge Park.

The Vanzant twins, Paige and Peyton led the Lady Cougars in scoring this season. The Seniors finished within two points of each other. Paige had 390. Peyton scored 388 points. Kennedy Nichols scored 345 points on the year. Addie White hit 75 3-pointers and finished with 300 points this year.

Senior Kennedy Nichols averaged over 11 rebounds per game and pulled down 347 on the year. Paige Vanzant had 155. Addie White grabbed 138 rebounds.

Logan County had five Lady Cougars to shoot over 60% from the free throw line this season. Peyton Vanzant hit 95-of-137 free throws for 69.3%. Abby Hinton shot 68.6%. Addie White, Paige Vanzant, and Gracie Borders also eclipsed 60% at the line.

The Lady Cougars beat Metcalfe County 53-50 to advance to the 2nd round of the 4th Region tournament. Barren County defeated Logan County 72-43 to end the season at WKU.

The Lady Cougars will lose five Seniors to graduation. The Cougars are graduating six.
