Russellville's Taryn Gray collides with a Todd County player at 2nd base on Tuesday. The Lady Panthers won 1-0.

Tuesday's district game at Russellville High School was a battle of defense and good pitching. In the end, it was Chloe Whitescarver belting the game-winning home run and A'miyah Collier throwing a terrific ball game to secure the win over Todd County.

Todd County's Abby McPhearson and Russellville's A'miyah Collier went toe to toe in an intense pitcher's duel on Tuesday. Collier threw 16 strikeouts, allowing zero hits, and zero runs in the win. McPhearson allowed one run on four hits.

The Lady Panther defense played perfect, allowing no errors in the field.

Addie Mosier, Taryn Gray, and Crissy Higgins each singled. Chloe Whitescarver drove a ball deep over the left field fence in the fourth inning for the only run of the game.

Russellville moves to (2-1) in 13th District play and (12-4) overall.

The Lady Panthers will play in the Kelly Russell Classic this weekend at Russellville High School.

The Panthers hosted Todd County in baseball action on Tuesday as well. The Rebels put up 12 runs in the top of the fourth inning to take control of the game. The final was 17-5 in five innings.

Jesus Zamarripa and Davin Holloway each had two singles in the game. Gram Humphrey and Trenton Hopkins also added singles.

The Panthers (2-8) will play in the Kelly Russell Classic this weekend.
