For the NDL

Russellville High School student athlete Brock Cleary, in the presence of friends, family, and administration of the Russellville Independent School District, recently signed to play baseball for Brescia University in the fall of 2019.

The signing ceremony took place at the Board of Education on the same site where Brock had given a speech about overcoming a sports injury during his senior year. Russellville High School Principal Ben Bruni recognized Brock's talent as a player but also his fortitude and resilience in the face of adversity.

The RHS principal has seen many players sustain injuries and never return to the game, but Brock chose a different path. He took a gap year between high school and college to become a coach of the game. He studied the sport, physically and mentally matured, and taught his craft to younger baseball players in the Russellville community. Brock thanked everyone who came to witness his honor, especially his friend Dillon Porter who pushed him to never give up.

Russellville Independent Schools congratulates Brock and applauds him for being an exceptional player and a driven young man!
