On Tuesday, June 25 at the Logan County Extension Complex, a new addition was introduced to the fair which brought joy and happiness to many faces.

The Real Heroes Pageant was an outstanding event which brought out contestants from all over including Tennessee. Thirty beautiful people showed up to support what organizers hope will be returning next year.

Jackie Crafton Stewart, director of Active Day of Russellville thought about the idea, knowing most of those who she has had the pleasure of serving each day would want to participate.

"As soon as I mentioned having the pageant, the donations and support started pouring in," said Stewart. "The enthusiasm from the community has been awesome. Within two weeks, I had enough donations to purchase the tiaras, flowers, medals, and trophies and the volunteers for the refreshments, hair, and makeup."

Stewart said the night of the pageant was amazing.

"There were 30 contestants from Logan and surrounding counties, and 150 plus in the audience. The ages of the contestants ranged from two-years-old to 66. I'm not sure who was smiling the most, me, the contestants or the audience. As far as I'm concerned, this will be an annual event," said Stewart who has already been approached by people that want to help next year. "I work with special needs adults every day at the Active Day and I can say they are a great blessing and deserve to be recognized and celebrated."
