Let’s do the Dock Trot! The Muhlenberg County Tourism Commission is excited to bring back this FREE, family-friendly event that features live entertainment on beautiful Lake Malone! The “Lake Malone Dock Trot” is slated for Saturday, Sept. 19, and will feature six free concerts performed along the banks of the lake. The event will begin at 3 p.m. and finish with a grand finale firework display at 7:30 p.m. at the beach at Lake Malone State Park.

To enjoy the event, launch a watercraft and embark on a free musical journey. Cruise along the Dock Trot route, navigating the waters from dock to dock, to discover six locations where live concerts will be being performed. Anchor for a bit and enjoy the music, then motor on over to the next Dock Trot Stop to hear another talented group of musicians.

The 4 plus hour event will feature a total of six bands, with three bands playing from 3-5 p.m. and three bands playing from 5-7:15 p.m. This will give boaters plenty of time to take in all six bands if desired. Dock Trotters will be entertained with genres spanning from country to gospel and rock-n-roll to bluegrass. The Dock Trot can be navigated from any direction and in any order, but to assist with the experience, each Dock Trot Stop has been color-coded and a map will be available at VisitMuhlenberg.com and at the official Facebook Event.

During the 3-5 p.m. time frame, the White, Yellow, and Blue Dock Trot Stops will feature live music. The “White Dock Trot Stop” is located at the well-known “Boat Church” dock, just north of Shady Cliff and will feature Muhlenberg County’s own award-winning southern gospel music by “Higher Praise Quartet” with a special guest appearance by local musicians Cole Scott & Jackson Miller. Continue heading north to the infamous “Whiskey Bay” area and you will find the “Yellow Dock Trot Stop” featuring the Logan County based band “Backroads Bluegrass” playing a mix of bluegrass, country, and gospel. Next up at the “Blue Dock Trot Stop,” boaters can circle up and enjoy the music of a 2019 returning favorite, the band “You, Me & Alice” featuring local dentist Dr. Jacob Clark.

From 5-7:15 p.m., the event switches gears, and the live music moves to the Red, Orange, and Shady Cliff Dock Trot Stops. The “Red Dock Trot Stop,” will feature a regional favorite, “Roy Kyle & the Hot Rod Cruisers.” They will be playing all your favorite Rock-n-Roll hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The “Orange Dock Trot Stop” will feature the “Randy & Skylar Lanham Band” with multi-instrumentalist Chris Armstrong. This father-daughter duo is packed with talent and will be playing bluegrass, gospel, and country music. The “Shady Cliff Dock Trot Stop” is conveniently located at the Shady Cliff Restaurant Lodge & Marina and will feature 2019 fan-favorite band “181 South” playing their own brand of country. This stop will also feature local singer/songwriter Jay McElwain!

The six Dock Trot concerts will happen in two two-hour segments beginning at 3 p.m. and lasting until 7:15 p.m. with the White, Yellow, and Blue Dock Trot Stops featuring music from 3-5 p.m. and the Red, Orange and Shady Cliff Dock Trot Stops featuring music from 5-7:15 p.m. To cap off the evening the sky will come alive with a spectacular firework display at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Malone State Park Beach! Please note that all firework viewing should be from a boat, viewers will not be allowed in the beach area during the firework show for safety purposes.

In addition, it is critical that attendees remember to observe special precautions due to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure everyone stays healthy during and after the event. Attendees should wear a mask, wash hands frequently and thoroughly, use hand sanitizer, maintain ix feet of distance between family units at all times, and be courteous to their neighbors.
