Members of the Colonel Benjamin Logan Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be holding a Grave Marking service Sunday, Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery to honor one of its compatriots, John Hendricks.

John is the son of Joe and Kaye Hendricks and the grandson of Joe Wayne and Cathie Hendricks and Marion and Burma Parker. He was born July 4, 2001, and passed away Dec. 14, 2018.

John was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a Governor's Scholar, Captain of the swim team, the cross-country team and the track team where he held the two-mile record at Logan County High School. He received the Presidential Scholarship to the University of Kentucky. He was the founder and President of the Junior Optimist Club, President of the Beta Club, and FFA Chaplain at Logan County High School. He was also the Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship winner for 2018 and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

At the service, an invocation, biographical, musical, floral and flag tribute will be held as well as a color guard, flintlock and cannon salute, the playing of Taps, and an SRA recessional.

The grave marking service is open to all who would like to honor John. Please bring a chair.
