Russellville Rural Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident earlier this week involving a deer on 68 west Hopkinsville Road Nov. 3 at 2:21 a.m.

According to the department, the vehicle caught fire due to the damage inflicted by the deer.

Rural safety officer James Kemp assumed command on arrival. E-54 responded with firefighters Walt Scruggs and Paul Marcheese, as well as Brush-58 by firefighter Jerry Browning, Asst. Chief Travis Kodiak, Lt Carl Seidler.

Units extinguished the vehicle and cleared the roadway.
