Shelby Gettings connects on a pitch Monday during the 4th Region tournament at WKU. The Lady Cougars won the opening round 12-2.

The Lady Cougars entered the Fourth Region tournament at champions from the 13th District. Logan County beat Franklin-Simpson, 5-4, for the District trophy. On Monday, Logan County carried that momentum into the softball complex at Western Kentucky University for the regional tournament.

The Lady Cougars drew Metcalfe County for the first round. The two teams had not met in 2019 until Monday.

Logan County put six runs on the scoreboard in the first inning. It all started with a triple from KJ Page. She scored on a single by Sydney Lee. The Lady Cougars recorded four hits in the bottom of the first to take the 6-0 lead early.

Shelby Gettings doubled in Sydney Lee in the bottom of the second to make it 7-0. Metcalfe would score one in the top of the third on an error. The Lady Cougars got that run back in the bottom frame to go up 8-1.

With the score 9-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Freshman Lillie Newman hit a 3-run home run to end the game. The final was 12-2.

On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars met South Warren in the semifinals. The two teams split the two games they met this season before Tuesday. At WKU, South Warren jumped on top early. The Lady Spartans put up three in the top of the first. They added another in the third inning. Logan County came back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third. The score was 4-3 in favor of South Warren after three innings.

The Lady Cougars would load the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning, trailing by only one run. The game ended on a ground ball to third base. The final was 4-3. South Warren advanced to meet Warren East in the championship. East won the 4th Region tournament on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars had eight hits. They were all singles. KJ Page and Brea Croslin each had two. Sydney Lee, Shelby Gettings, Lillie Newman, and Presley Harris had one single apiece.

Gettings and Lee combined for pitching duties against South Warren on Tuesday. Each allowed five hits. Lee had a strikeout.

The Lady Cougars end the 2019 season at 25-7.
