The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats fired up the buses for the first time in a week and visited the Logan County Cougars on Friday night. Logan County sent both the boys and girls teams back to Franklin with painful district loses. The Cougars won 74-49 while the Lady Cougars shutdown the Lady Cats 61-35. Both Logan County teams are in first place in the 13th district.

The ladies tipped off first. Both Lady Cougars and Lady Cats played close for the first half. Sarah Beth Hale scored seven in the first quarter. For Franklin, Alera Barbee had six points in the opening quarter to help the Lady Cats to a 14-12 lead.

The Lady Cougars were able to jump on top before halftime. It was 29-25 going into the locker room. Logan County was able to put the game away in the third and fourth quarters after holding Franklin to only nine points.

Sarah Beth Hale scored 20 for Logan County. Paige Vanzant had 12, and Kennedy Nichols scored nine.

For the Lady Cats, Alera Barbee shot 5 for 8 from the line and scored 11. Christina Carver had nine, and Evyn McCutchen finished with eight.

The Lady Cougars are (4-1) in district play with only one remaining 13th district game left in the regular season. Todd County is just behind at (3-1.)

Wildcat team that had already beaten them twice this season. Each loss was by only three points. It became obvious quickly that this game would not be a three-peat.

The Cougars came out of the locker room on fire. They led the Cats 22-5 after the first. It was 38-20 at the break. Kelby Epley scored ten points in the first frame.

The Wildcats tried to claw back during the second half but fell flat. The final was 74-49. The Cougars had 13 different players score points in the win. Epley led the scoring with 15. Mykal Hampton finished with 12. Tommy Krohn collected ten on the evening.

The Wildcats were led by Chase Gooch and Andreyous Miller with 13 each.

The win puts Logan County firmly in control of the 13th district.

Both Logan County teams will play at Russellville on Friday.
