The Logan County High School boys' varsity cross country team recently got the season under way at the Bowling Green Purple Strider Invitational.

The Logan County cross country team got it's season under way on Aug. 31 at the Purple Strider Invitational at Keriakes Park in Bowling Green.

The event was hosted by Bowling Green High School.

The Logan County varsity girls team finished eighth overall in the event. They were led by junior Eliza Hagens, who finished 28th with a time of 27:23. Junior Kirsten Johnson was second on team with a 36th-place finish with a time of 28:33. Eighth-grader Molly Stapleton finished 39th with a time of 29:51, junior Emma Trent was 41st with a time of 29:57 and sophomore Cristin Nash was 57th with a time of 43:16.

The Cougars varsity team finished ninth overall. They were led by sophomore Denton Motsinger who finished in 45th place with a time of 20:54. Senior Elijah Hopkins was 53rd with a time of 21:22. Senior Jacob Orndorff was 70th with a time of 22:46. Junior Trenton Fears was 82nd with a time of 23:43 and junior Heath Cross was 84th with a time of 24:07.

In the girls' middle school race, eighth grader Ella Lawson finished 34th with a time of 17:51. In the boys' middle school race, seventh grader Landon Crocker finished 67th with a time of 17:29.

In the girls' elementary race, fourth grader Blake Curry finished with 15th with a time of 9:59. Fourth grader Kallie Taylor finished 24th with a time of 10:19 and fourth grader Stella Trent finished 45th with a time of 13;17. In the boys' elementary school race, fifth grader Wyatt Lawson finished 10th with a time of 8:48. Garrett Lawson was 13th with a time of 8:52. Fifth grader Gabe Masterman was 26th with a time of 9:40. Solomon Weiss was 43rd with a time of 10:54 and Lucas Rounds was 44th in 10:58.

The cross country team will be back in action this Saturday at the Warren East Raider Twilight Run. All meets this year are sponsored by Joe and Kay Hendricks, in honor of former runner John Hendricks.
