Logan County Fair

The Logan County Fair will be here before you know it and what an exciting time to get together and highlight our heritage.

The county fair is a historical tradition that dates back to a time when people loved to come together. The aroma of funnel cakes fills the air as you run into your neighbors while standing in line for lemonade. From showing your best harvest, livestock, and crafts to partaking in the delicious food you can only get from this kind of event, the family unit, and our rural accomplishments are honored and celebrated.

With providing a plethora of fun, the country fair also provides commerce. Local businesses receive support from a thriving fair. Between lodging, services, food, and retail expenditures, a county fair can generate thousands to the community. And let's not forget agricultural advocacy. County fairs are a great opportunity for those in 4-H to have a platform to share what they do.

"It's much more than a fair, it's living life and enjoying it," said fair board member Linda Martin.

This year the Logan County Fair will be held June 22-29. This highly anticipated event is held at the Logan County Extension Campus, 255 John Paul Ave., Russellville. Last year around 9,000 people attended the fair, however, organizers hope this year it will be bigger and better than ever.

"I am so proud to be a fair board member," said Dee Dee Brown. "We spend a year planning a week-long event that we want to be the best week in Logan County. We are so lucky. We keep prices affordable and try to plan family-friendly events that attract all ages. We hope this year will be the best fair ever!"

The Logan County Fair has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years thanks to the volunteers who worked diligently to bring it back after it had ended several years ago.

"The Logan County Fair is a good fair. I have had 25 years of experience working with fairs and attending fairs all over the place," said fair board member Ben Ferguson. "The Logan County Fair Carnival is one of the best I have ever worked with or saw anywhere around. The Logan County Fair Board is made up of good sincere people who always keep in mind the public who attend. Come to this year's fair and you will not be disappointed."

Those who serve on the 2019 Fair Board are: Cody Tatum-Chairman, Paul Gripshover-Vice Chairman, Karen Logan-Secretary, Linda Martin-Treasurer, Amanda Stratton, Ashley Holloway, Barry Cornelius, Barry Perkins, Ben Ferguson, Brooke Powell, Carrie Derossett, Mary Givens, Dee Dee Brown, Jason Brown, Jay Campbell, John Walpole, Leann Martin, and Lonny Epley.
