Boyd Elmo Johnson Sr., 87, of Florence, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

He was born on October 27, 1925, a son of the late Paul Johnson and Hattie Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Johnson and son, Boyd Elmo Johnson Jr.

Mr. Johnson worked for the railroad and farmed for most of his life, served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Survived by:

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Reverend Jim Duvall, Bob Southwood and Reverend Bill Gott officiating. Burial followed in the Dripping Spring Cemetery. Visitation began at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 15 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 16 from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers were Gary Henson, Andy Mosier, Shawn Johnson, Ward Johnson, Matt Cropper and Tony Barker.

He is survived by his son, Paul Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind.; his daughters, Jean Dixon of Florence and Bonnie Mosier of Indianapolis, Ind.; his brother, Rabon Johnson, and his sisters, Irene Gooch of Russellville and Patsy Gibbs and Mary Lou Henson, both of Indianapolis, Ind.
