Katherine Penick, 95, of Russellville, Ky., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Ky.

She was born in Logan County on August 29, 1917, a daughter of the late Harvey and Alice Talley Ashlock. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Penick was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Penick; her daughter, Alice Cox, and her grandson, Michael V. Ford.

Mrs. Penick was a retired teacher from the Todd County Board of Education, a member the Todd County Retired Teachers Association, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) and a member of the Stevenson Chapel Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Friday Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel. Burial followed in the Stevenson Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation began Thursday, Jan. 10 from 5-8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 11 after 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Dennis Penick, Keith Dickerson, Andrew Dickerson, Matthew Dickerson, Tim Penick, J.W. McLevain and John Schaefer

She is survived by her son, Dennis Penick and wife Barbara of Russellville, Ky.; her daughters, Linda P. Ford of Sonoita, Ariz. and Cynthia Dickinson and husband Keith of Russellville, Ky.; her sister, Lucille Ashlock of Evansville, Ind.; her grandchildren, Jennifer Cox, Sharon P. McLevain, Timothy Penick, Nicole Dickinson, Andrew P. Dickinson and Matthew K. Dickinson, and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the Stevenson Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
