John Stephen Petrie, 52, of Clifty, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. of natural causes.

He was born in Todd County Aug. 1, 1959, a son of the late Ira Ellis and Lillian Louise Tucker Petrie. In addition to his parents, Mr. Petrie was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Sonny Hester.

Mr. Petrie was retired from Kut and Klean Janitorial Services. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Donald McGhee officiating. Burial followed in the Clifty Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation began Saturday, July 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton and Sunday, July 22 after 1 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church until time of service.

He is survived by his brothers, George Petrie and wife Pat of Greenville, Rodney Petrie of Sharon Grove and Sherwood Petrie and wife Karen of Elkton; his sisters, Pat Wyatt and husband G.W. of Clarksville, Tenn., Mary Lou Hester of Elkton and Martha Rhea Perry and husband Kirby of Adams, Tenn.
