allowing golf carts on Auburn streets is not smart at all. There is enough on these streets that we must dodge now. i.e. Horses/buggies and poop. Some of us license & pay property taxes on our legal autos as well as insurance now. Golfcarts on Auburn streets are lawsuits WAITING TO HAPPEN. hey town council, what smells better, horse poop or lawsuits??

Why does the police sit on the new shelton lane between sportsman club rd and 68 WEST writing speeding tickets. The speed limit is 25 mph which is the same as a school zone. there are few homes or businesses on this stretch of road. and the speed limit needs to be changed, and yet they sit there and write tickets, WHY?????

After all, you are a grandpa, remember you are setting and example! Heart-breaking tragedies can sometimes be avoided by the strict observance of basic safety rules. Rule 1 - Never ever point a gun at anything you do not wish to destroy. Rule 2 - Every gun is always loaded and to be treated as such. No exceptions. There are other rules that those who use firearms should be aware of , but these two rules are a must for responsible use. My prayers and condolences go out to those who suffer....

Is it surprizing when the stauchest, most hard line, yellow dog democrat decides he would like for the independents and republicans have a chance to vote for him, after he loses in his own party primary. A man who's theme song is you have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. sounds great till you lose you little bit of power and grasp for anything to retain it. If he had been a little more open minded for all those years before, maybe he would not have lost. Harold Prince (Dem.,Ind., or Rep.) doesn't matter as long as he gets elected, it's all for the people of his district.

Wish the counsel would have considered my old friend Dick Mosely for the vacant Mayors position. He is full of idea and very creative.He will voice his opinion on any subject.

Let me say this, i believe mr. Stapleton means well, but he is going about getting the attention of other pedophiles or would be pedophiles..he thinks if they read the expose' of others, they would not want their names, pictures and description of what they did on the front page of the local paper..this would keep them from harming our children...that is very naive and Carry's no weight with that sort of human being, they have no pride..

The ONLY thing that would curtail this sort of behavior is that our judicial system take steps to strengthen the law..to insure that every guilty party was given so many years in prison, and a special prison for pedophiles only, that they would never be allowed around children again.This is my opinion, and Mr. Stapleton, i would be glad to join forces with you to petition our judicial system and getting this law so strong, no one in the state of Kentucky would ever harm a child again.

I have a question for those who think Mr. Stapleton was wrong in his reporting - have you experienced sexual child abuse firsthand and if so how can you condemn him for shining the light on such a disgusting act? If it takes shocking statements to get people in Logan County to stop sticking their heads in the sand about this crime then so be it. I admire him for taking a stand and I support him.

I agree with Ellen. I too was shocked, disgusted and amazed at the obscene, vulgar, explicit wording used in describing what took place between the accused and the victims. Mr. Stapleton is trying to make you think that by turning the ND&L into pornography that he will stop sex offenders. Nonsense, what good can possibly come of using such language on the front page or any page of a small town newspaper. How can that stop a sex offender? Actually it comes closer to exciting them more. Picture a young child standing, looking over her mother's shoulder while she is reading the newspaper, that child is getting an education of her life and not one that her mother would approve of. Does Mr. Stapleton allow his children to read such garbage? Mr. Stapleton also mentions that he does not print the names or identity of the victims. Yes he does in fact by being so descriptive. When he refers to the 3 children does he think that those 3 children are the only ones who know what happened. Of course not, there are neighbors, family, friends, classmates, etc. who knows because something like that can not be kept secret. People talk, children listen and then the world knows. So now he has caused permanent damage to those children by telling everyone every little detail, every little sordid detail of what was done to them. I could not live with myself if something that awful happened to me and my friends or classmates knew about it.

Mr. Stapleton, what exactly are you trying to do? Are you really trying to stop sex offenders or just getting kicks out of printing dirty talk or could there possibly be another reason you keep pasting sex offenders on the front page. Until this election year, there weren't any sex offenders to speak of, now they're coming out of the woodwork....What's up with that?

Ellen, you are exactly correct. The men have not been found guilty and I don't care to read a paper that reads like a tabloid. Sensationalism is expected in those rags, but not in the ND/LL..also I resent being looked at as if we didn't care about the victim, but protecting the guilty.. give me a break!

I've just finished reading Mr. Stapleton's article.

I believe most local people agree that a convicted child sex offender's picture should be on the front page of the paper--larger than the details presented in the text but with clear information on the charges. The details of the acts really seem to be over-kill.

Charges against an individual are usually spectacular enough without explicit detail. I believe if folks objected, it was to that detail.

I would, however, stress the difference in accused versus found guilty. That's why we have the court system in place.
