A new grocery store is to open in Adairville on August 3. Billed as Sonny's Express Market the store will be part of the SCALLC business owned by Mr. Sonny Punjabi.

Located in the same buildings that the Adairville Lotto Store now occupies, the new market entrance will face South Main Street. The Park Avenue entrance to the current lotto store will be closed and all customers will enter through the South Main Street side.

The totally remodeled and refurbished store will feature new tiled floors, new bat rooms, a new meat-cutting room, kitchen, ceiling, lights and large coolers for milk, soft drinks, juices, meats, fresh vegetables, ice and the like.

When you enter the building it looks like a brand new store. Mr. Punjabi, the owner, stated that he wanted to bring a new and very nice store to the citizens of Adairville so he was going to the added expense of making the store a business that he and the customers could be proud of.

The grocery part of the business will specialize in fresh-cut meat on the property and special cuts when requested. The meat cutter will be Glenn Draughon, who has a number of years experience managing meat departments at H.G. Hills Stores and others in surrounding counties. Mr. Draughon and his father formerly operated a restaurant across Main Street from the BP Service Center.

The market will also feature a deli that will serve fried and rotisserie chicken, subway-type sandwiches, burgers and fries and desserts They will also have frozen custard and slushies.

A beautiful new electric sign will soon be going up on the face of the building. The sign will be announcing the opening of the market and other information.

The market has room to expand and plans to do so as the business grows. Mr. Punjabi promises a nice store and deli that all of Adairville will like. He is open for suggestions on a new name for the market and items the customers would like for him to carry.
