He was born in Elkton July 4, 1915, a son of the late Joseph Newton Hadden and the late Nettie Latham Hadden. In addition to his parents, Mr., Hadden was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Willis Hadden; his son, Carl Thompson Hadden Jr., and three grandchildren.
Mr. Hadden was a United States Army and Marine Corps veteran having served in World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He served as a Kentucky State Senator for 1969-1971. He was the owner of Carl Hadden Chevrolet Dealership, was a farm implement dealer, sales representative for Southern States Farm Supplies and Willis Insurance. He was a member of the Petrie Memorial Methodist Church and a member of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School class. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a 50-year member of the Elkton Rotary Club with perfect attendance and an active member of the Todd County Senior Citizen’s Center.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16 at the Todd County Funeral Home with Reverend Shane Hessey officiating. Burial followed in the Glenwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his brother, McKinney Hadden of Russellville; his daughters, Molly Trahan of Houma, La. and Peggy Mullins of Pembroke; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Petrie Memorial United Methodist Kitchen Fund, University Heights Academy of Hopkinsville and Todd County Senior Citizens Center.
