Former A’ville mayor, LTRWC founder dies

A former Adairville mayor and one of the founding fathers of the Logan Todd Regional Water Commission has died.

George Wilford Arnold, 88, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

Arnold served the city of Adairville as both mayor and the as the town’s representative on the water commission for many years.

When the new water plant was opened in Guthrie in May of 2003, it was named the “George W. Arnold Treatment Facility.

In addition to serving as a mayor of Adairville and the director of the Logan Todd Regional Water Commission, Arnold was also a World War II veteran, a former manager of Logan Telephone Coop and the oldest member of the Auburn Masonic Lodge. No. 374.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at the Adairville Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday after 5 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
