Spring soccer signups

Russellville Parks & Recreation will be having registration for the Logan Youth Soccer Association today and Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. The league is for youths born Aug. 1, 1997 through July 31, 2005. There is a $35 fee.

Teen Town Revisited

Clay Bilyeu will be singing all the classic rock songs we enjoyed at Teen Town today at the Schochoh Community Center from 6 to 11 p.m. Admission is $5.

Disciples Cafe & Coat Rack

First Christian Church, 201 W. 7th St., will host its monthly Disciples Cafe & Coat Rack today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those in need are invited to select a winter coat and enjoy a free, hot meal. The church also has a small supply of blankets, hats, gloves and other items. Chili-making kits will be distributed to those who attend. For more info call 726-2586.

MLK service

The Board of the MLK Committee will be honoring the 24th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Service as well as the remembrance and legacy of the late Willie Cross today at 3 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Russellville. Guest speaker will be Reverend Devin West.

Adult Ed in Adairville

Adult Education Classes will be held on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Adairville School computer room beginning today. Classes will meet today, Feb. 1, 8, 22, March 1, 8, 22, April 12, 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24. Classes do not meet when the school is closed for holidays, spring break or snow days. No childcare is provided. All services are free and confidential. Classes are for adults ages 18 and older and include GED Preparation, skill review for high school graduates in math, language and reading, tutoring provided for pre-hire employment testing and college entrance test preparation, and free assistance provided to help adults complete admission and financial aid requirements for attending college/technical schools.

Financial aid workshop

Educational Talent Search at WKU will be at Russellville High School today at 6 p.m. to provide information about financial aid for college and answer questions. The workshop is free and all seniors and their parents are invited.

Angel Food Ministries at 1st Presbyterian

Place your order for Angel Food Ministries at First Presbyterian Church, 159 W. 6th St., today from noon to 7 p.m. Orders will no longer be taken on Fridays. No applications or income restrictions. Healthy Baby Workshop

Kids Now Plus is having a free Healthy Baby Workshop at the Logan County Health Dept, 151 S. Franklin St., Russellville today from 1 to 3 p.m. All pregnant women who attend get a $25 gift card. For more information and registration call Adairville or Lewisburg Family Resource Youth Center at 539-7777 or 755-3463. If Logan County Schools are closed, workshop will be canceled.

Auburn SBDM

The Auburn School Site Based Decision Making Council will meet today at 4 p.m. at the school. The public is welcome to attend.

LEAD/IDA meetings

The Logan Economic Alliance for Development (LEAD) will meet today at 7 a.m. in the Logan County Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room, 116 South Main Street, Russellville. The Logan Industrial Development Authority, (IDA) will meet at 8 a.m. following the LEAD meeting. LEAD and IDA meetings are open to the public. Eat Right When Money’s Tight

Everyone is invited to a parent workshop call “Eat Right When the Money’s Tight: Managing the Might Dollar” today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Logan County Extension Office. Topics will include: How to create a top notch menu, smart planning, smart shopping and how much money you can save. Childcare will be provided.

Fundraiser for Jesse Anderson

There will be a fundraiser for Jesse Anderson today at 5:30 p.m. at the Crossroads Church. The menu will be hot dog or pork loin sandwich, beans and chips. Cost is $5 a plate. An auction will be held by Bobby Blackford. Entertainment by Tom Webb and the Challengers.

2010 Relay for Life Kick-Off

Logan County’s 2010 Relay for Life Kick-Off is being held today at the Russellville High School from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Brunch will be served. Thinking about having a team but not sure what is involved, come join us and we can explain everything to you. Already have a team ready to go, then come on out this is the last day to receive the “Early Bird Special” of a $50 registration fee, after Saturday, the fee is $100. We invite survivors to come and see what we have planned for you this year.

District Planning Committee Meeting

The Logan County School District’s Local Planning Committee will meet today at 5 p.m. at the district office. This meeting will be to vote on the proposed District Facilities Plan.
