Preschool parents enjoyed a family picnic on the grounds of Stevenson Elementary School on a sunny day made for a picnic. With family facilitator Marilane Kerstiens and speech pathologist Cindy Vincent as the grillmasters, the picnic-goers were treated to some tasty hotdogs along with the usual picnic fare. Preschoolers and their family members sat outside on the preschool playground and enjoyed their meal and each other. The family picnic is an annual event, and has become a traditional part of the end of school for preschoolers.

As a part of the picnic festivities, Tammy Corum, Stevenson Elementary School principal, and Kaye Wilkins, assistant superintendent, met with the parents of upcoming kindergartners to talk to them about the kindergarten experience. Called "Transitioning to Kindergarten", parents were told how to prepare their children for kindergarten and what to expect. Parents were given a tour of the school had the opportunity to have all of their questions answered.
