The Logan County Cougars suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday against the Greenwood Gators. The Cougars fought hard but were not able to catch up to the Gators as they fell 5-1.

The Gators started the scoring early, picking up a run in the first inning of the game. The Gators were able to shut out the Cougars and end the first inning with the Cougars down 1-0.

The Cougars were not able to get three outs quick enough in the second inning, letting the Gators add two runs in the game. The Gators remained in the lead 3-0 going into the fourth inning.

It was not until the bottom of the fourth that the Cougars would cross the plate when Logan County’s Cody Hunt scored leaving the Cougars down 4-1.

The Gator defense stepped up and would not allow the Cougars another run in the game. With the last run in by the Gators in the seventh inning, the Cougars would fall 5-1.

Joe Holiday pitched for the Cougars for five innings of the game. Holiday had 85 pitches with five strikeouts and allowed four runs. Matt Harper jumped in the game and pitched for two innings. Harper had 24 pitches with one strikeout and one run for the Gators.

The Cougars will travel to Glasgow to face the Scotties on Saturday at noon.
