Both the Logan County Lady Cougars and the Russellville Lady Panthers ended their season this week in the district tournament. The Lady Cougars fell in the quarter-final game on Monday against the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats. The Lady Panthers fell in the semi-final game on Tuesday against the Todd County Central Lady Rebels.

The Lady Cougars started the game in the lead on Monday night. The Lady Cougars scored first in the game and held a small lead until the end of the quarter. The Lady Wildcats would tie the game with two minutes in the first quarter and would end the quarter with a lead of 12-9.

The Lady Cougars were able to keep up with the Lady Wildcats early in the second quarter but with some mistakes the Lady Wildcats would gain a 13 point lead. The Lady Cougars ended the second half down 20-33.

The Lady Wildcats would continue to add more points to the scoreboard and shut the Lady Cougars down, ending the third quarter 27-52. The Lady Cougars could not pick up their game in the fourth quarter, ending the game with a 35 point loss of 34-69.

Katelyn Jones led the Lady Cougars with 11 points. Megan Lindsey followed with eight points. Abbey Hinton finished the game with seven points.

The Lady Panthers had a good start against the Lady Rebels, playing smart and leading throughout the first quarter, ending with a small lead of 9-6. The Lady Panthers would fall behind early in the second quarter, but a shot from Nathansia Haskins would keep the Lady Panthers lead of 15-14 heading into the second half.

The Lady Rebels defense was able to shut down the Lady Panthers completely during the third quarter while they adding seven points to the score, ending the third quarter 15-22.

The Lady Panthers did not give up, and fought for a comeback. With 43 seconds to go, the Lady Panthers would come within three points of the Lady Rebels. Unfortunately, the Lady Panthers could not put a play together, ending the game 25-34.

Khalia Hampton finished the game with 16 points for the Lady Panthers. Senior Nathansia Haskins finished with five points and senior Amber Sydnor finished with four.
