Let our words lead back to Christ

Dear Editor:

I am writing in regard to last Friday’s letter, “True Christians need to stand up.” The purpose of my letter isn’t whether I agree or disagree with Mrs. Alms. Many things have happened and many more things will happen where the world refuses Christianity or Christ - that is never a surprise. The Bible tells us that the world will reject Christ. What is surprising is that now, more than ever, people need to be drawn to the Lord through his followers by love, but instead many people are turning away because they see Christians as angry, unloving, narrow minded, judgemental and so on. Most of us are guilty of this at some point, including myself.

The word says in John 13:35, “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” I agree Christians need to have unwavering faith in their beliefs and stand for things that are important, but never should our words be dripping in insult, sarcasm and judgement. The Lord doesn’t need us to fight his fights, but to be a vessel, pouring over with his love so that the broken can find healing, the weak can find strength and the lost can find truth.
