The Russellville Country Club property will soon be annexed into the Russellville City limits as the new owners, EJB properties LLC, have requested the move.

The Russellville City Council held a first reading of an ordinance that would bring the approximate 69.25 acres into the city on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Kerr said he received an email from local attorney Joe Gran Clark with the consent to annexation that was executed by EJB Properties LLC.

The new owner, who is from the Chicago area, but has family here in Logan County purchased both the golf course and the clubhouse/restaurant for $472,000.

The city council and mayor have deemed the annexation to be beneficial to the city and it’s citizens.

“We will be able to collect property and occupational tax revenue by annexing in this property,” said mayor Stratton. “There could be a possibility of up to 10 or more employees that we can pull from. It’s good for us and it’s good for them to be part of our city. I think they have a lot of good ideas in store for the property and want to get the youth involved. We are very happy with their choice to join our city.”

A second reading was held at a special called council meeting held Monday, Feb. 10. The property will be zoned as B-2 commercial.
