The Russellville Police Department received a report of a collision at the intersection of US 68-80 Bypass and Highland Lick Road. The collision involved a 2013, gray Kia Forte, operated by Lavena Porter, 55, of Morgantown and a 2004, red Ford Ranger, operated by Linda Evans, 52, of Russellville.

According to witness statements, Evans had been stopped at the red light attempting to continue eastbound on 68-80 Bypass. When the light turned green, Evans entered the intersection and was struck from behind by Porter’s vehicle, also traveling eastbound.

Witness statements suggest that Porter may have been unaware that Evan’s vehicle was traveling slowly, as Porter was traveling at a much higher rate of speed.

After the initial impact, Porter’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned, come to rest in a steep ditch.

Porter was extracted from the vehicle by witnesses prior to the arrival of first responders. Porter was transported via LCEMS ambulance to Logan Memorial Hospital for multiple injuries. Evans was nit injured.

The Russellville Police Department was assisted by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Logan County EMS, and Emergency Communications Center.
