Dennis Sears, 90, of Sharon Grove, Ky., died Monday. Jan. 14, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Logan County, Ky. on March 7, 1922, a son of the late Alpha Dennis Sears and Sally Wright Sears. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sears was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Sears in 2011.

Mr. Sears was a self employed auto mechanic. He served in the United States Army as a heavy machine gunner in World War II where he saw action in the Battle of the Bulge, Omaha Beach, and was also a POW.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Dukes officiating. Burial followed in the Gants Cemetery in Sharon Grove, Ky. Visitation began in the funeral home Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 5-8 p.m.

He is survived by his sons, Tim (Debbie) Sears of Russellville, Ky., Terry Sears of Savannah, Ga. and Jerry (Tammy) Sears of Sharon Grove, Ky.; his daughters, Rita (Mike) Willis of Elkton, Ky. and Shelia (Donnie) Bryant of Sharon Grove, Ky.; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
