The Logan County High School girls’ basketball team came up with a big victory on Friday night as they went to Elkton and knocked off Todd County Central 39-36.
It was the first District 13 loss of the season for the Lady Rebels, who had beaten Logan County 63-58 in Russellville back on Dec. 14.
For the Lady Cougars, the victory also represents their first district win of the season, upping their record to 1-3 after losses to Russellville and Franklin-Simpson, and the earlier defeat against Todd.
Logan County is now 7-10 overall on the year. The Lady Cougars host Allen County-Scottsville tonight in a tough non-district contest. The Lady Patriots are one of the best teams in the Fourth Region with a 14-3 overall record.
The Lady Cougars then play another district road game on Friday as they go to Franklin-Simpson. The Lady Cats beat LCHS earlier this season 65-53.
The Logan County boys’ team didn’t have as much success on Friday in Elkton.
The Cougars lost a heartbreaker 58-55 to the Rebels on Friday.
LCHS then came back on Saturday night and lost another tough one; 70-69 at Hopkins County Central.
The two narrow weekend losses now drops Logan County’s record to 5-13 on the year. The Cougars have lost three in a row and six of their last seven games.
They will try to get back on the winning track tonight as they host Allen County-Scottsville. Logan County then plays on Friday at Franklin-Simpson.
