The Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a reported shooting on Monday evening on Deer Lick Road in Lewisburg.

Police dispatch informed deputies that a female caller at 6302 Deer Lick Road said her husband had shot at her, according to a report from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies B.J. Grayson and Bobbie Hooten made contact with the victim, 47-year-old Lisa Derr of Lewisburg, who told them that her husband, 78-year-old Gerald L. Derr, also of Lewisburg, had fired several shots at her from a semi-automatic hand gun and was inside the residence.

The deputies then attempted to call Gerald Derr out of the residence because of the reported hand gun. Gerald Derr cursed the deputies from inside and refused to come out.

An hour-long standoff resulted with Gerald Derr until law enforcement entered through the back of the residence, which caused Gerald Derr to run out the front door where he was met by Grayson and Hooten, along with troopers from the Kentucky State Police.

He was quickly apprehended.

Gerald Derr was then arrested and lodged in the Logan County Detention Center. The case is being investigated by Grayson, Hooten, and Captain David Kitchen of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and the Kentucky State Police.
