Joy Downey, 75, of Auburn, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, in the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.

She was born in Logan County, Ky. on July 31, 1937, a daughter of the late James Henry and Melvina Porter Scarbrough.

Mrs. Downey was married to the late Leland Lewis Downey. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Auburn, President and Owner of Downey Trucking and loved to go camping in her RV.

She is survived by her sons, Bob Downey and Diane, Bill Downey and Deborah, Jim Downey and Donna and Cliff Sorrles, all of Auburn, Ky.; her daughter, Janice Hesson and Keith of Auburn, Ky.; her brother, Darris Scarbrough of Auburn, Ky.; her sisters, Barbara Blackford and Linda Hines, both of Auburn, Ky. and Jean Fagg of Franklin, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Young Funeral Home Auburn Chapel with Brother Rusty Thomaston officiating. Burial follow ed in the Auburn Cemetery. Visitation began Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers were Drake Downey, Ryan Downey, Cameron Hesson, Brandon Hesson, Phil Hines, Dwight Scarbrough and Butch Gibson.

The family ask that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
