On December 3, at the Logan County Arena, the first annual Ride for Tots was held. The local 4H horse club, the Logan County Shadow Riders, has been having open ride nights on Mondays. It was decided to use this particular Monday evening to give back to the community. Instead of paying five dollars per horse to ride, you would bring a toy for a zero to five year old and or canned goods. All items were donated to the Agape Center Toy for Tots.
The 4H members wanted to do something so that kids who wouldn’t otherwise have a Christmas would be able to receive a gift. “It’s all about the kids.”
This event was put together in a matter of two weeks. Radio and newspaper advertisements were placed. Flyers were made, printed, passed out, and that was no easy task!
We would like to thank all the local businesses who allowed us to place the flyer in their stores. We would also like to thank the Extension Office for the use of their facilities. We would not have been able to have done this without your support. We would also like to thank Dominos Pizza for donating pizza for the event.
We must also thank everyone who came for the open ride, those who came out for the pony rides, and those who came out just for fun, for without you the night would not have been a success.
