David Glenn House, 81, and Betty Goley House, 80, of Alvaton, died Nov. 11, 2012, in Williston, Fla., and Nov. 13, 2012, in Gainesville, Fla., respectively, as the result of an automobile accident.

David was a Gordonsville native, born to the late Cornelius Grimes and Evelyn Bledsoe House. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the United States Army active duty and reserves for 32 years, graduated from the Command General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Before marriage, David was an amateur stunt pilot. He attended Bowling Green Business University and graduated with an associate’s degree in business. He was also employed as a salesperson for Kelley-Parrish Office Supplies for over 20 years. David trained at the German Wine Academy becoming a hobby vintner with his wife at their “New Canaan Vineyard” in Alvaton. He was an avid harmonica player, sharing his love of Christ through sacred music. David was an active member of Greenwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Colonel Kenneth House of Greenwood, Miss.

Betty was an Oakville native, born to the late Robert Odell and Elizabeth Cornwell Goley. She was a homemaker and an expert seamstress who loved to cook, bake, and help others in the community. She was also an active member of Greenwood Baptist Church, the homemakers club, and a volunteer usher at SkyPAC and the Capitol Arts Center. Betty was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Ray Goley.

Funeral services will be on their 59th wedding anniversary on Monday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Broadway Chapel. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville with a committal service at 2 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Gideons International, Greenwood Baptist Church, or Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include a son, David Byron House and wife Karen of Springfield, Tenn.; a daughter Jennifer House Leon and husband Frank of Upton; two grandsons, Truman and Henry House of Springfield, Tenn., and his brother, C.G. House (Luetta) of Lowell, Ind. Betty is survived by two sisters, Jo Ann Simmons of Russellville and Bobbie Wood (Bob) of Issaquah, Wash.
