Owen Allen Banton, 77, of Guthrie, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

He was born in Allensville Sept. 4, 1935, a son of the late Mervin and Johnnie Kathleen Bennett Banton. I(n addition to his parents. Mr. Banton was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Anne Strange Banton in 1996.

Mr. Banton worked in Agricultural Trucking, was a United States Air Force veteran and attended Guthrie Baptist Church, He was a member of the Allensville United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with Reverend Stephen Childers officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Cemetery. Visitation began Friday, Nov. 16 from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 17 after 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Anne (Mark) Wofford of Adams, Tenn. and Kathryn Evelyn (Bryan) Smith of Guthrie; his brother, Morrie K. “Sonny” (Dorothy) Banton of Allensville; his sisters, Dorothy Jean Lambert of LaJolla, Calif., Wanda (Bobby) Shelton of Hopkinsville and Sherry (Gaylon) Rust of Elkton, and his grandchildren, Rachel Ann and Sydney Hope Wofford, Chelsea Noel and Clayton Allen Smith.
