Georgie Ann Gidcumb, 64, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

She was born in Russellville Jan. 22, 1948, a daughter of the late George Athie and Ora Lee Dunn Gidcumb.

Ms. Gidcumb was a member of the Living Word Church in Adairville. She retired from the Kentucky National Guard Headquarters Co. 2-123, Armor Division, Bowling Green, Ky. Duties included Senior Staff Personnel Sergeant and Military Administrative Supervisor for the Kentucky Marijuana and Eradication Program. She was employed as a Certified Substitute Teacher from 1981 – 2011 for the Russellville Independent, Logan and Todd County School Districts. She served as Logan County Coordinator for The Salvation Army from 1992 – 1997 and Supervisor of the Salvation Army for Warren and Simpson Counties from 1994 – 1997. She was a member of the Logan County Youth Service Advisory Board from 1995 – 1997. In 1990, she was inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct, 17 at 2 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Pastor Bill Cowan officiating assisted by Brother Steve Smith. Burial was at Dripping Spring Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Pallbearers were Archie Foster, Eric Arnold, Ricky Dunn, Steve Spahl, Mike Spahl and Billy Watkins.

She is survived by her sister, Relda Wood and husband David of Russellville; her nieces, Terry Collins and husband Murrell of Gamaliel, Ky., Gayle Isgrigg and husband Mark of LaGrange and Robin Wood of Russellville; her nephew, Steve Wood and wife Julie of Lewisburg; three grandnieces; four grandnephews, and one great-grandniece.
