The Logan County boys and girls soccer teams will play their district games Oct. 8 and 9. The teams will face Franklin-Simpson and Todd County Central in the tournament. The girls will play at 5:30 p.m. and the boys will play at 7 p.m. on both nights.
The Logan County Lady Cougars have a season record of 6-5 heading into the district games next week. The Lady Cougars have beat the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats twice before in the season and lost to the Todd County Lady Rebels in penalty kicks.
“I’m feeling good about district. We’ve beat Franklin twice and lost to Todd in penalty kicks, but I think we can play better against them,” said Lady Cougar head coach Daniel McCarley. “We are practicing this week and working on our first touch and passing. I think as long as we can pass the ball and keep possession we will do fine.”
These will be bitter sweet games for the seniors since this is the last time they will be playing as a Lady Cougar.
“I feel really good about the games. I’ve been out for two weeks, but I’ve been with the team at practices and games and I think we’re ready and going to do our best. We’re ready to go play our hearts out and we’re really excited,” said senior Claire Hopkins. “I’m sad about my last game. I wish I had more time to spend with the girls. We’ve become a small family and I”m going to miss going to them when I’ve had a bad day so it is bitter sweet.”
The boys team will head into district with a season record of 9-7. They have lost two close games against Franklin-Simpson and won once against Todd County.
The Lady Cougars will face Franklin-Simpson at 5:30 p.m. and the Cougars will face Todd County at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8.
