Montgomery Vanderpool Jr., 75, of Russellville, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. He born in Jackson, Miss. July 5, 1923, a son of the late Montgomery Vanderpool, Sr. and the late Almeda Johnson Vanderpool.
Mr. Vanderpool was retired from the United States Army and was a member of the VFW and DAV. During his military service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Rusty Thomaston officiating. Burial followed in the Bucksville Cemetery. Visitation began Friday, Sept. 28 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 29 after 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. There was full Military Honors.
He is survived by his wife, Francis Britt Vanderpool; his sons; George Vanderpool of Auburn and James Day of Russellville; his daughter, Kimberly Beltcher of Russellville; his brother, John Vanderpool of Jackson, Mich.; his sister, Suzie Vanderpool of Jackson, Mich., and his grandson, Blake Vanderpool.
