As the new Young Farmer Advisor and Agriculture Specialist for Butler and Logan Counties, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the agriculture community.

My name is Daniel Reynolds. I was hired by Bowling Green Technical College at the beginning of December to replace retiring Young Farmer Advisor and Agriculture Specialist, Mr. Dwight Grise. I graduated in the spring of 2008 from Western Kentucky University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, with an emphasis in Agriculture Education.

I am a native of Hart County and continue to reside there with my wife, Lindsey. After graduating college in May, my wife and I both went back home to help run the family farming operation. Our farming operation consists of a registered herd of Simmental and Chiangus beef cattle, as well as raising alfalfa hay and burley tobacco.

I am very excited to be the new Agriculture Specialist and Young Farmer Advisor for both Butler and Logan Counties. I look forward to serving the young farmers of the area in all sectors of agriculture. It is my desire to work closely with farmers, agribusinesses, and government agencies for the betterment of agriculture in these counties as well as statewide.

Any individual that is 18 to 40 years of age can join the Young Farmer Association. Anyone who may be interested in becoming a member of the Young Farmers Association can contact me by phone at (270) 528-6275 or (270) 901-1232, or by email at iohn.reynolds@kctcs.edu. My office is located in the Bowling Green Technical College Transpark Center in Bowling Green, just off 31-W on the north side of town. Feel free to stop by and see me any time that I am not in the county for consulting, advice, to learn more about the Young Farmer Association, or just to chat.

My intention is in February or March to have an introductory meeting in Logan County for all interested individuals to come to so that we can get to know one another and discuss the direction of the local chapter. A notice will be placed in the newspaper prior to that meeting. In addition, an email will be sent out to any addresses that I have at that time.

This is a great opportunity to build up the Young Farmer's Chapter in these counties, and also for farmers to make use of the services an Agriculture Specialist in this area can provide.

Feel free to contact me about the Young Farmers Association or services that I may be able to provide to your operation. I look forward to meeting and serving the young farmers of the area.
