Curtis R. Simpson, 69, formerly of Russellville, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

He was born February 17, 1943 in Todd County to Cleophas Simpson and Clara Kennedy.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday to the funeral hour. Burial will follow at Russell Chapel Cemetary.

Curtis united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Logan County under the leadership of Rev. Roy Hughes where his strong faith in God saw him through many illnesses. He worked as a car detailer in Russellville including Page Brothers and E. R. Carpenter. He also worked at Jim Johnson car dealership for years. He was married to Odessa Smith Simpson in 1965. No children were born to this union; however, they raised three nephews as their own.

He is survived by his sisters, Lula Kennedy of Bowling Green and Sarah Frances Blunt; one brother, Clifton Taylor of Jamestown; three godsons-nephews, Tyrone (Catherine) Kennedy of Russellville, Terry (Tracie) Weatherford of California and Tramon Weatherford of Bowling Green; one brother-in-law, Robert Smith of Bowling Green; one sister-in-law, Lisa Cook, of Bowling Green and a host of relatives and friends.
